Biodynamic Seed Regeneration
Dear biodynamic Garden enthusiasts,
It this time of year to take stock and to also stock up in preparation of the activities we are looking forward to be doing in our garden in the new year.
Biodynamic Seed Breeding
It has been proven in seed breeding experiments executed by Georg Wilhelm Schmidt in Germany and by his dad, who had the information from Dr. Rudolf Steiner directly, that the resilience, resistance to extreme weather conditions improved in the seeds which were buried in the topsoil and exposed to the forces of the warmth and light/Air ether forces in the soil and Earth during the 12 Holy Nights.
Further to this, also the nutritional values improved greatly in plants grown from seeds treated in this manner.
Benefits of 12 Days of Christmas/Holy Nights
With the 12 days of Christmas or Holy Nights coming up, it would be wise to make sure you have acquired all your Open Pollinated Biodynamic or Organic Seed by Christmas Eve.
We know of course in biodynamics that the ether forces of warmth and light/air are greatly responsible for the quality in our crops.
At the same time there seems to be a phenomena that transmits during those 12 days and nights the balancing forces of the 4 ethers, which correspond to the 12 signs of the zodiac.
Farmers of old used that wisdom to predict the weather for the new year.
They observed the weather starting on Christmas Day, which corresponds to January and the sign of Capricorn which corresponds in the biodynamic calendar to the constellation of the Archer (Sagitarius).

Even in the Mayans considered in their calendar 5 days were considered as sacred when they celebrated the divine presence of their culture.
It might be of interest that at this time that is when the Earth is closest to the sun.
Preparation for the 12 Days of Christmas/Holy Nights
So, make sure you have your seeds and a wooden box handy by Christmas Eve.
Also, if you would like to celebrate this time by offering to the Earth a gift of Christmas then I highly recommend and remind you to order your Three King’s Preparation or the ingredients, which usually are elaborated as a sacred ritual during New Year’s Eve to then be applied on the periphery of the garden.
Mushroom Phenomena
Last, but not least, looking out my window I saw two species of Coprinus mushrooms that have popped up since yesterday.
This is usually a sign of a warm soil and activity releasing Ammonia, which is taken up by the mycelium of these mushrooms and converted into their beautiful flowering organ.
I suggest you help to guide this process by applying the horn manure preparation to make sure humus formation is encouraged after the 15. Dec. when the moon will be waning and is descending for the next two weeks.
As the moon is descending and waning the next two weeks, it’s a perfect time to cut your Christmas tree and greenery ideally from the 20. & 21. December when the sun is going into the constellation of the Archer and the moon is in the constellation of the Lion.
You will have the most exquisite scents and aromas from your living plant companions.
Just make sure you have a misting bottle at hand to regularly give your greenery a fine spray which could even be enhanced with a bit of cinnamon, clove bud and orange essential oils.
